Charli XCX Discusses Her Journey with Cosmetic Procedures
Charli XCX, the British pop sensation, has candidly opened up about her experiences and perspectives on cosmetic treatments, including her decisions regarding Botox and potential future surgeries. In a revealing interview with Vanity Fair, she shares insights into the pressures of maintaining an image suitable for the camera.
The Decision to Quit Botox
Charli recalls her regular use of Botox to maintain a certain aesthetic but notes the impact it had on her appearance during auditions. “I did a couple of audition tapes where I had Botox, and my eyebrows had this unnatural lift,” she explained, comparing the effect to Jack Nicholson’s distinctive look. This realization led her to stop using the toxin, commonly explored in the cosmetic industry for its ability to smooth wrinkles.
Considering More Permanent Changes
Despite halting Botox, Charli admits she often contemplates more invasive procedures to alter her appearance. “I’m always thinking about how I look and what I would change about my face,” she shared, hinting at the likelihood of opting for a mid-facelift in the future. The idea of permanence in cosmetic adjustments seems to be a recurring thought, though she remains cautious about getting ‘too sucked into’ the possibilities.
Early Experiences with Fillers
The artist also discussed past experiences with fillers, responding to a fan’s inquiry on Instagram about her flawless skin. “I get Botox and I got fillers once or twice but a while ago,” Charli admitted, adding that she now prefers treatments like polynucleotides, which she describes as “kinda like deep vitamins” for the skin. Her advice on cosmetic procedures is thoughtful and tailored: “BUT just do all your research—what’s right for me/my skin/how I feel isn’t necessarily what’s right for u etc,” she advises.
Expanding Horizons: From Music to Acting
Following her acclaimed 2024 album Brat, Charli has been expanding her career into acting, with notable appearances in Prime Video’s Overcompensating, Erupcja, and 100 Nights of Hero. She is also venturing into filmmaking with a mock documentary titled The Moment, inspired by her experiences in the music industry.
