Cardi B’s Fierce Defense of Her Children and Her Latest Musical Ventures
Cardi B’s Protective Instincts
Known for her bold personality and even bolder lyrics, Cardi B recently took a stand to protect her children from negativity on social media. Featured in the latest issue of PAPER, she discusses how this maternal fierceness is an intrinsic part of her character.
“This week I showed the world that I will get the most nasty about mine. I never had to get that nasty for my kids. But I did, and I really feel like a lioness,” Cardi B expressed, illustrating her zero-tolerance for any threats or negative comments directed towards her family.
A Feud That Caught Everyone’s Attention
In what turned into a heated exchange, Cardi B found herself entangled in a social media battle with fellow artist Nicki Minaj. The dispute, which involved personal jabs at each other’s children, highlighted the lengths to which Cardi is willing to go to defend her family.
Amidst this, Cardi B also addressed another artist, BIA, on a track from her album Am I the Drama?. Her lyrics, “Name five BIA songs, gun pointin’ to your head/ Baow, I’m dead,” respond to BIA’s mention of Cardi’s children in a diss track, which compelled Cardi to retaliate strongly. During an interview on The Breakfast Club, she explained her motive was to ensure her children never feel unguarded.
Cardi detailed her perspective further, emphasizing how important it was for her to act decisively. “You mentioned my kids tryna be cute,” she mentioned. “When my kids grow up one day and they see that you mentioned them, they’re gonna ask me, ‘So what you said? What you did [in response]?’ I’m not gonna tell my kids, ‘I felt like she took the high road cause she lost, cause people wasn’t on her side.’ Naw, I’m not sayin’ that to my kids. I’m [gonna be] like, ‘You see how I violated?’”
Chart-topping Success and New Beginnings
Despite the personal battles, Cardi’s professional life continues to flourish. Her recent album, Am I the Drama?, soared to the top of the 200 in September. Currently expecting another child, she is set to embark on the Little Miss Drama Tour in February, demonstrating her ability to balance her growing family life with her demanding music career.
