Ed Sheeran’s Innovative Netflix Event: One Shot With Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is venturing into new territory with his latest endeavor. In a recent Instagram announcement, Sheeran shared exciting details about his collaboration with Netflix for a unique, live-streamed music event entitled ‘One Shot With Ed Sheeran’. This special is set to offer an uninterrupted, single-take music experience, directed by the acclaimed Philip Barantini, known for his work on ‘Adolescence’ and the 2021 film ‘Boiling Point’.

The upcoming Netflix special will showcase Sheeran performing spontaneously across various locales in New York City, from subway platforms to bustling sidewalks, serenading the public with hits from his extensive catalog. The concept promises to blend music and urban exploration, capturing the essence of New York’s dynamic atmosphere.

Ahead of this ambitious project, Ed Sheeran has been particularly inventive, promoting his eighth studio album, ‘Play’, released in September. His promotional activities have ranged from an NPR Tiny Desk concert streamed shortly after the album launch, to unique cross-cultural music integrations. For instance, Sheeran experimented with traditional Indian music and teamed up with Indian artist Ariji Singh for the song ‘Sapphire’, creating an engaging video filmed in India.

Sheeran’s promotional efforts also included setting up themed phone booths across Europe and launching a nostalgic Instagram page featuring rare photos, linked with the release of his single ‘Old Phone’.

Following the Netflix special, Sheeran will resume his international tour, starting with a performance at Zenith in Paris on December 1. His tour will then extend through Germany, the U.K., and Ireland, before heading to Australia and New Zealand in the early months of the next year.
