Cody Johnson Announces Tour Hiatus Following Urgent Medical Procedure
Country music sensation Cody Johnson has made the difficult decision to halt his 2025 tour dates following urgent medical advice. The singer experienced a severe ear injury which, compounded by a persistent upper respiratory and sinus infection, led to a ruptured eardrum. As a result, Johnson must undergo surgery that necessitates a significant period of rest, preventing him from performing.
Johnson shared his disappointment and hopes for recovery on his social media platforms. He expressed his regret for the disruption and his eagerness to heal and return to the stage to continue entertaining his fans. He states, “The healing process will take many weeks, and it is not possible for me to sing during this time.”
The affected tour dates include notable venues such as Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena and Birmingham, Alabama’s Legacy Arena at the BJCC. Fans holding tickets for the remaining six shows of 2025 have been advised to await further instructions from their ticket providers.
Cody Johnson plans to make his comeback on February 14, 2026, at Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center. Furthermore, fans can look forward to seeing him headline Stagecoach festival in April, held in Indio, California.
Despite this setback, Johnson’s career continues to flourish with recent accolades and nominations. His latest album, Leather, won the CMA Awards’ album of the year in 2024. He remains a strong contender in this year’s Country Music Association Awards, with nominations in several categories including entertainer of the year and male vocalist of the year.
