Everything But the Girl “Blue Reservoir”: New Album, “Young and Dumb,” Tracklist and Everything We Know

Everything But the Girl will release their 11th studio album, Blue Reservoir, on February 19, 2027, via Buzzin’ Fly/Virgin Music Group. The duo announced the 10-track record on October 28 alongside its first single, “Young and Dumb,” setting out a notably more stripped-back direction than the sharper electronic focus of 2023’s Fuse.

The announcement positions the new album around a return to the essentials of guitar and voice, with the intimate atmosphere of the band’s London MOTH Club performances serving as a key catalyst. Most of the album was subsequently recorded live during a 10-day session at RAK Studios in London in July 2026.

“Young and Dumb” introduces Blue Reservoir

“Young and Dumb” is the first music to arrive from Blue Reservoir. Its accompanying video was directed by Edward Bishop from a treatment by Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, and filmed at London’s MOTH Club, according to NME.

That setting is more than a visual backdrop to the single. MOTH Club is directly tied to the artistic circumstances around the record: the performances there helped steer Thorn and Watt toward the less densely electronic setup heard across the album’s stated concept. It makes “Young and Dumb” the public entry point to a release shaped as much by close-range performance as by studio construction.

Pitchfork reports that Blue Reservoir is the pair’s 11th studio album and confirms its February 19, 2027 release through Buzzin’ Fly/Virgin Music Group. For a project introduced through a club-shot video and a guitar-and-voice-led premise, the campaign foregrounds the duo’s live interplay rather than presenting the record as a simple continuation of Fuse.

MOTH Club shows shaped the shift from Fuse

Resident Advisor reports that Everything But the Girl’s Blue Reservoir grew out of the duo’s intimate MOTH Club performances. Those shows pushed the album toward a stripped-back sound centred on guitar and voice, and away from the sharper electronic approach of 2023’s Fuse—a shift in emphasis rather than a rejection of the earlier record.

The songs developed in the context of those intimate performances before being taken into a live studio setting, reinforcing the album’s performance-led approach rather than a broad “back to basics” narrative.

The MOTH Club also appears in the “Young and Dumb” video, linking the single’s visual presentation to the performances that informed the record.

Recorded live at RAK Studios

Most of Blue Reservoir was recorded live over 10 days at London’s RAK Studios in July 2026. The sessions included Rex Horan on double bass, Evan Jenkins on drums and Fabio de Oliveira on percussion, according to pm studio world wide music news.

The personnel and compressed recording period offer the most concrete indication of the album’s band-led character. Double bass, drums and percussion place live rhythmic and acoustic elements around Thorn and Watt’s core partnership, consistent with the guitar-and-voice emphasis reported around the announcement. Beyond those named players and the RAK sessions, no further production or songwriting credits have been supplied in the announcement reporting.
