Kenshi Yonezu’s “IRIS OUT” Continues Its Reign on the Japan Hot 100
Kenshi Yonezu’s powerhouse track “IRIS OUT” secures the top spot on the Japan Hot 100 for the second consecutive week as of October 1, maintaining its dominance across multiple metrics.
The song, which serves as the theme for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, was released digitally on September 15 and physically on September 24. It quickly soared to the top of the charts, driven by robust video views and streaming numbers. Specifically, it ranked third in sales with 255,534 copies sold in one week and second in downloads, tallying 20,374 units. It also achieved respectable positions in radio airplay and karaoke popularity.
In an impressive showcase of its popularity, “IRIS OUT” accrued a total of 29,533 points by the week’s end—setting a record for the highest points accumulated under the current chart system established in 2023.
Global Impact and Chart Performance
Further amplifying its success, “IRIS OUT” climbed to the fifth spot on the U.S. Global 200 chart on October 4, 2025, marking a historic achievement for a Japanese-language song. The international exposure is timely as Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc began its global theater rollout, promising further international acclaim for Yonezu’s hit.
Kenshi Yonezu didn’t stop there; his collaboration with Hikaru Utada for the track “JANE DOE,” which also features in the same movie, debuted at the second position on the Japan Hot 100. This track led the downloads category and performed strongly across streaming and video metrics.
Yonezu’s other singles also experienced notable chart movements. “Plazma” rose significantly, along with “KICK BACK,” “BOW AND ARROW,” and “Lemon,” which re-entered the chart after four months.
Other Top Performers on the Japan Hot 100
Joining Yonezu on the chart, Bullet Train’s “NINE LIVES” debuted at number three with record-breaking first-week sales for the group. SKE48 secured the fourth spot with their single “Karma,” which also witnessed strong sales numbers.
