The events company has filed a federal lawsuit claiming that Rod Wave has retained a substantial sum of $27 million, originally advanced for his “Last Lap” tour, but reportedly misspent on luxury items such as private jets and upscale secondary residences.

According to legal documents filed by Grizzly Touring, the collaboration began when Rod Wave was enlisted for a North American tour to promote his album Last Lap. The tour, which commenced with high expectations, struggled to complete its scheduled 35 cities. Grizzly Touring alleges that only 26 shows were actually performed, generating $30 million, far below the expected revenues, thereby failing to cover the advanced amount.

Accusations and Repercussions

The lawsuit reveals that the shortfall in performances and the subsequent financial discrepancies have led Grizzly Touring to seek legal remedies. They are insisting on a full repayment of the advanced funds, alongside additional damages for the alleged breach of contract. This includes an injunction to prevent Rod from launching independently promoted tours, claiming a violation of exclusive rights previously granted to Grizzly for his performances.

Response from Rod Wave’s Camp

On the defensive, Rod Wave, through his legal representative, David Rose from Pryor Cashman, argues that the failures of the tour were due to Grizzly’s mismanagement. This includes poor routing and logistical errors that hindered the transportation of necessary tour equipment. According to Rose, these issues absolve Rod of any contractual breaches due to the organizational failings on Grizzly’s part.

Rod Wave publicly voiced his frustrations, attributing the tour’s shortcomings directly to mishandlings by Grizzly, hinting at deeply rooted issues in planning and execution by the concert promoter.
