Among the stars of the night were legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who were honored with the Ray Harris Lifetime Achievement Award. In an emotional acceptance speech, Jimmy Jam reflected on the significance of their early career support from Ray Harris, while Terry Lewis humbly reminded everyone, “We’re just two guys who like to make music. You all are the ones who made them hits.”

Legacy and Impact Awards

The gala also served as a platform to honor other key figures in the music industry. The Chairman’s Award was bestowed upon James L. Winston, president and CEO of the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters, by the Foundation’s chairman, David C. Linton. Moreover, Zelma Redding, representing the Otis Redding Foundation, gracefully accepted the Legacy Award, highlighting her enduring commitment to preserving her late husband’s musical legacy.

Trailblazing Female Executives Recognized

The event also spotlighted the achievements of several leading female executives in the industry. Notably, Samantha Selolwane received the Music Executive Award for her role at RCA in shaping the success of hip-hop, R&B, and mixshow promotions.

From Dyana Williams, a co-founder of Black Music Month, to rap and TV star Da Brat along with her partner Jesseca Dupart, the event was a true celebration of Black music and its influential personalities.
