Oscar Maydon’s Rico o Muerto Scores Major Deal with Warner Chappell Music
In a significant milestone for the nascent label Rico o Muerto, Oscar Maydon and Alexis “Chachito” Fierro have partnered with Warner Chappell Music to expand their reach on the global music stage. This partnership was announced recently, marking a pivotal moment for the label which was only established last year.
The vision of Rico o Muerto was clearly articulated by co-founder Chachito Fierro. “Our goal was to create a platform that truly understands and empowers artists, drawing from our own experiences in the music industry,” Fierro commented. He further emphasized the synergy between their vision and Warner Chappell’s ethos, which made this partnership an exciting prospect for the future.
Expanding Horizons
With operational bases in key Mexican cities like Mexicali, Mexico City, and Tijuana, and an extension in Los Angeles, Rico o Muerto has been on an aggressive talent hunt. The label recently brought on board the up-and-coming artist Víctor Méndivil, joining other talents such as Omar Camacho and Fernando Angulo.
Gustavo Menéndez, President of U.S. Latin & Latin America at Warner Chappell Music, praised the founders’ knack for identifying and nurturing talent. “Their instinct for discovering and cultivating talent is remarkable, and we are thrilled to be part of their journey,” he said.
A Robust Roster and Strategic Partnerships
The collaboration between Rico o Muerto and Warner Chappell is not just about music distribution but fostering a culture that resonates with the vibrant tradition of música Mexicana. “Rico o Muerto is rapidly becoming a formidable force in música Mexicana,” stated Carlos Ruiz and Delia Orjuela of Warner Chappell Music Mexico. They emphasized the label’s deep roots and innovative approach as key reasons for their partnership.
This global deal follows the success of Maydon’s third studio album, Rico o Muerto, Vol. 1, which saw impressive rankings on both the Top Latin and Regional Mexican Albums charts.
Adding to their list of achievements, Oscar Maydon is set to speak at the prestigious Latin Music Week 2025 in Miami, discussing the future of Regional Mexican Music, a testament to his and the label’s growing influence in the genre.
