World Mental Health Day: J Balvin and Equinox Initiate a Campaign for Mental Well-being
The renowned Colombian artist J Balvin, in partnership with the luxury fitness company Equinox, presented a new initiative on October 10—World Mental Health Day—that aims to enhance mental health awareness. This thoughtful campaign encourages participants to “disconnect to reconnect” by leaving their phones at check-in, allowing them a day free from digital distractions.
As part of the initiative, J Balvin personally curated a selection of music and messages broadcasted throughout Equinox facilities, creating an ambiance that fosters inner peace and mindfulness. His involvement goes beyond just curation; Balvin shared a poignant message via a video, emphasizing the importance of stepping back from the digital world to nurture one’s mental health.
“Disconnecting is a powerful step towards mental well-being,” said Balvin. He continued to discuss his own battles with mental health, highlighting how personal struggles have driven him to advocate for greater awareness and open conversations about mental health issues.
In his ongoing effort to destigmatize mental health care, J Balvin also launched the OYE app in 2022, designed to support emotional wellness. His campaign with Equinox aims to integrate mental health into the broader definition of success.
Equinox, in collaboration with Project Healthy Minds, also aims to bolster community mental health. Judy Taylor, svp of communications and philanthropy at Equinox, articulated the company’s vision, stating, “The true luxury in life is peace of mind, and we strive to foster that within our community.”
