The Unexpected Past Between Redman and Faith Evans
During a revealing sit-down with Acton Entertainment, Redman shared insights into his past relationship with singer Faith Evans. The duo, both from Newark, New Jersey, had a connection long before their celebrity status.
Having met through his sister, Redman and Evans formed a bond during their high school years. “Faith was my sister’s best friend, and that’s how we met. We were very young, just starting to figure out life,” Redman reminisced.
He humorously admitted feeling a twinge of jealousy when Evans began dating The Notorious B.I.G. “It was a bit of a shock. You know, seeing someone you dated marrying someone else famous, it does make you reflect on what you had,” he said.
Despite the initial jealousy, Redman spoke highly of Evans’ talents and her rise in the R&B scene. He even attempted to introduce her to musical opportunities. “I introduced her to Erick Sermon, hoping she could join our circle. But at the time, we were primarily into rap, not so much R&B,” he explained.
As Evans’ relationship with Biggie Smalls developed, Redman was pursuing his own career. “By the time she started seeing Biggie, I was deep into my music, touring and living a whole different life,” he stated.
His regard for her success overcame any past feelings. “Faith is extremely smart and savvy, a true Jersey girl at heart. Watching her succeed, getting involved with one of the top rap groups, it was incredible. All I could do was cheer her on from the sidelines,” he added.
Redman’s narrative is a compelling glance at personal growth and professional respect in the competitive music industry. The two have evidently maintained a respectful rapport over the years.
Evans herself confirmed the high school relationship in an interview on the Drink Champs show, adding another layer of authenticity to Redman’s fond recollections.
